Roots. Voice. Meaning.
THE STORY BEHIND SSSI
Every young person carries a story. Some stories begin in environments filled with encouragement and guidance. Others begin in spaces where young people feel unseen, unheard, or unsure about their place in the world.
Shelter Story Song Initiative was created for those moments.
We believe that when young people are given safe spaces, supportive communities, and opportunities to express themselves, something powerful happens. Confidence grows. Identity forms. Purpose becomes clear.
Our work focuses on creating environments where young people can speak freely, heal from difficult experiences, and discover their potential through storytelling, mentorship, emotional support, and community engagement.
We call this community the Village. Because it truly takes a village to raise a child.

WHO WE SERVE
Our work centers around three key groups within the SSSI ecosystem.
DREAMERS
Dreamers are teenagers and young adults between ages 13 and 25. They carry ideas, talents, and ambitions waiting to be nurtured. At SSSI, Dreamers are encouraged to explore their identity, develop confidence, and build the courage to pursue meaningful lives. Your voice matters. Your dreams matter.
CARERS
Carers are parents, teachers, guardians, and mentors who guide young people every day. We partner with Carers to build environments where young people feel safe, supported, and encouraged to grow. Together, we shape futures.
VILLAGERS
Villagers are the wider community supporting our mission. They include volunteers, partners, storytellers, funders, and advocates. Every Villager contributes to the collective support system that empowers young people. The village builds the dream.
WHAT WE DO
SSSI creates programs and initiatives that support emotional growth, creativity, and resilience among young people.
Safe and Healing Spaces
We create environments where young people can share experiences without fear or judgment.
Storytelling and Creative Expression
Stories, art, and media give young people the power to express themselves and inspire others.
Emotional Support and Mentorship
Guidance and mentorship help Dreamers navigate challenges and build confidence.
Community Empowerment
Through schools, communities, and youth-focused gatherings, we encourage collaboration and collective care.
